Business cards and other fun things

This week has not been great for accomplishing any sewing. (womp womp) BUT, I have gotten a lot of holiday crafting done! I am hoping to make at least one home made gift per family member. Most of this has consisted of cross stitching goodness. It's my favorite old lady craft! I'm also planning on doing some modge podge fun stuff.

In cosplay news, my boyfriend's amazing sister is making me some business cards! They will have all my social media information on them so that way when people ask me for my picture they can tag me on Instagram or follow me on Twitter!

This week I will be starting on doing a quick muslin of the bodice piece of the Evil Queen cosplay!

If I don't get it done this week it will be because I may be getting my evil wisdom teeth taken out that have been the absolute worst the past few days.

Stay on the look out for an update around Thursday or Friday!!!

Once Upon a Time Cosplay: Week 1

This weekend has been quite productive in regards to the Evil Queen cosplay; I have purchased the fabrics and patterns for this project! I have also gotten the Captain Hook pattern but I haven't 100% figured out which fabric I will be using for that yet.

I have been able to get all my patterns cut (all 20 of them!) and I have started on making a muslin for the bodice part of the coat. It will be the most difficult part of this, no doubt. So, I would like to do a practice with the cheap fabric before the super expensive fabric!

( Here's a link to the pattern I am using, it's a McCall's pattern.)

I am so beyond excited to get going on this!! YAYY!

Wizard World Philly 2015

The costumes for Wizard World Philadelphia 2015 have been chosen!!!
DRUM ROLL PLEASE!

HAN and LEIA!!
One day of the convention we will be doing Han and Leia. We plan on going to the convention for two days, so because we have a lot of time to work on these cosplays, we have decided to do two different costumes!
One day we will be doing heroes, and the other we will be doing villains!
(This is all in the hopes that we are able to get both done! haha!)

And for the villains....

The Evil Queen and Hook from the wonderful television series, Once Upon A Time!!
These two characters flip between hero and villain throughout the series, and I think that is what I find most appealing about them. (and that Captain Hook is insanely gorgeous!)

I have been lucky to find patterns for our villains costumes, which is so great! I'm not ready to be drafting my own patterns yet!

This cosplay will push me to the next level in craftsmanship, I will be doing very structured, fitted, and detailed pieces that I can not wait to start!!!

So stay tuned for more updates!

Halloween, the aftermath

This Halloween was an absolute blast!
The boyfriend and I saw a friend of ours band (In the Presence of Wolves), and they did an AMAZING set that was a cover of Prince's Purple Rain album! It was so beyond cool, they were all dressed as Prince, in their 80's garb, and even had some of Prince's mannerisms down to enhance the experience!

The boyfriend and I dressed as Jim and Pam from the Office. And I did attempt to do a make up video on the cat makeup, which went terribly. HAHAHA! I am no make up artist. I was able to make myself look like a cat, but not anywhere as good as the YouTube ladies do it. So, my advice for any cat costumes is just go look it up on YouTube.

I have some links for you guys on costumes that I had used as reference for some of my many costume ideas this year. But don't think of them as just Halloween costumes, any of these ideas would make a great and easy cosplay, especially if you are going to a convention for more than one day, an easy second day outfit is always a great idea.

I hope to be making the Louise Belcher costume in my free time soon, but I just wasn't able to complete it for Halloween this year.

Coming up, look for some winter crafts I'll be doing (adding some of my other hobbies to this!), and the cosplay for this spring's Wizard World Philly. I will be doing weekly updates and how to videos on my cosplays for that weekend. But for  now they shall remain a secret!!!
